“Making Your Voice Count in a Noisy Political Climate”

Politics seem crazier than ever. Both political parties are engaged in endless shouting matches. While many of the most pressing issues seemed to be ignored by Congress. People wonder whether their voice still makes a difference. It almost seems that there is nothing the average American can do to get government’s attention… but there is.

This presentation will start with a sobering assessment of what’s different and what’s the same in the Congress under this administration. Participants will learn:

· Basic elements of advocacy they can employ to ensure their voices are heard

· What advocacy tools still work

· Basic advocacy techniques both in state/federal capitals and back home 

· Successful advocacy case studies, reminding participants that democracy still can function in times of crisis
